Industry 4.0 Software Development Intern – Manufacturing

About the role

Join Bosch Japan’s Technical IT Group as an Industry 4.0 Application Developer Intern. You will support the creation and maintenance of internal software that drives digital transformation in a manufacturing plant, gaining hands‑on experience at the intersection of IT and production.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and deploying Industry 4.0 applications for internal plant systems.
• Support design and implementation of solutions that integrate IoT devices, sensors, and automation equipment.
• Collaborate with manufacturing departments to translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Participate in process‑optimization initiatives and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Help troubleshoot and maintain applications in production environments under senior mentorship.
• Analyze system performance and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Take part in code reviews, receive feedback, and adopt best practices for code quality and security.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or C++.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in an organized, structured development environment.
• Willingness to learn Industry 4.0 concepts and manufacturing technologies.
• Fluent English communication skills.
