Manager III, Customer Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, is seeking a Manager III, Customer Engineer to lead its customer engineering team in Yokkaichi, Japan. The role combines technical leadership, customer relationship management, and district‑wide operational oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all customers in the district, conducting regular visits and acting as the primary interface with product divisions.
• Manage, coach, and direct all customer engineers, handling salary planning, career development, performance appraisals, and corrective actions.
• Lead account planning with the District Sales Engineer and provide support plans for system sales, financial forecasting, and cost‑efficiency initiatives.
• Oversee system installations, including planning, reporting, pre‑facility and start‑up meetings, and process support identification.
• Execute escalation procedures, monitor the CSD Award and mentor programs, and manage RMA processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, administer company policies, and drive results against financial targets.
• Strong judgment and problem‑solving skills within defined procedures and policies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to gain cooperation, present technical information, and influence stakeholders.
