Process Support Engineer II – Semiconductor Manufacturing

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Process Support Engineer II to support advanced semiconductor manufacturing at its Yokkaichi site. The engineer will guide products through the full lifecycle, from concept to qualification, and provide on‑site customer support for complex equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site installations, system diagnostics, and repair of high‑visibility semiconductor equipment.
• Collaborate with customers and R&D teams to develop cutting‑edge processes for advanced chips.
• Create hypothesis experiments, design of experiments (DOE), analyze data statistically, and compile technical reports.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root‑cause analyses, and resolve challenging process and product problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials engineering, electrical engineering, optoelectronics or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in the semiconductor fab or equipment industry.
• Proficiency in English communication.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) processes.
• Experience with Plasma Reactive Ion Etch (RIE) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technologies.
• Familiarity with anneal and implant processes.
• Ability to design experiments (DOE) and apply statistical data analysis.
