Senior Associate, Payroll

About the role

Tory Burch, an American luxury lifestyle brand, is hiring a Senior Associate, Payroll in Tokyo. The role oversees and manages payroll processing and vendor services for Japan and any additional countries assigned, working with outsourced payroll vendors and the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for Japan employees through outsourced payroll vendors.
• Review and validate payroll calculations from vendors, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, allowances, leave records and overtime.
• Ensure accurate, on-time processing in line with the Japan Labor Standards Act, Income Tax Act, Local Tax Act, Social Insurance regulations and company policy.
• Work with the payroll vendor and Finance on statutory filings and payments such as income tax withholding, resident tax, social insurance, labor insurance and year-end tax adjustments.
• Maintain payroll documentation, audit trails and records, and assist in internal and external audits.
• Provide payroll support for additional APAC countries as the scope of the role expands.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field preferred; equivalent payroll administration experience also considered.
• 8+ years of payroll administration experience handling Japan payroll for multinational companies.
• Strong knowledge of Japan payroll legislation, labor laws, tax regulations, social insurance, labor insurance and year-end tax adjustment.
• Experience managing outsourced payroll vendors.
• Excellent Japanese and business-level English, written and spoken.
• Independent, detail-oriented, able to handle confidential information and multiple deadlines.

Required skills

• Payroll systems such as Workday, SAP and Jobcan are preferred.
