Team Lead - Korea Governance Research

About the role

ISS STOXX, a global provider of corporate governance research, data and analytics for institutional investors, is looking for an experienced Associate Director to lead its Korea Governance Research team in Tokyo. The role delivers high-quality proxy research on Korean listed companies, strengthens team capability, improves process consistency and aligns local workflows with regional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee timely and accurate delivery of proxy research and voting recommendations on Korean listed companies, applying ISS policy consistently and acting as escalation point for complex governance issues
• Maintain oversight of data quality, coding accuracy and research integrity
• Lead, coach and develop analysts and senior analysts, giving structured feedback and fostering accountability and continuous improvement
• Manage workflow allocation, queue visibility and delivery timelines, and identify and fix process inefficiencies
• Set up escalation pathways and decision frameworks, and ensure globally consistent research outputs
• Review local tools and workflows, align them with regional systems and build repeatable processes
• Keep strong knowledge of Korean corporate governance, regulation and disclosure standards, and support client engagement and research queries

Required profile

• 8-12+ years of experience in corporate governance, financial services, consulting or related fields
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and workflows
• Strong understanding of corporate governance and capital markets, preferably in Korea
• Ability to handle complexity in high-pressure, high-volume environments
• Fluency in English required; Korean strongly preferred
• Experience across teams or regions in a global organisation is highly desirable
