Senior Software Engineer – Machine Learning

About the role

Cogent Labs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer specialized in Machine Learning to design, develop, and maintain AI‑driven solutions for real‑world business problems. You will work in a small, international team building practical AI systems for document understanding, from model research to production deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end ML projects: define problem statements, evaluate state‑of‑the‑art, implement and improve models, and deploy them at scale.
• Maintain and serve machine‑learning models in production environments.
• Stay current with advances in ML and software engineering, continuously improving the stack.
• Mentor junior engineers on algorithmic approaches and rigorous development practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience applying machine learning, including deep learning.
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals and experience with computer vision and NLP models.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and work independently on complex problems.
• Experience designing distributed, scalable systems (microservices, messaging/queues).

Required skills

• Python programming for production‑grade code.
• Machine learning frameworks and deep‑learning libraries.
• Kubernetes, Docker, Knative for DevOps.
• Microservices architecture, Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Model serving and scalable ML infrastructure.
• OCR, document classification, text classification.
