About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses worldwide, is hiring a Solutions Engineer / Technical Sales for its Japan organisation. The role supports Embedded Finance, Payment Acceptance and wider opportunities, partnering closely with commercial teams to give technical pre-sales support on complex payments and integration-led deals. It aims to improve technical coverage, speed up deal velocity and make the way complex opportunities are qualified more consistent.

Key responsibilities

• Support Embedded Finance and Payment Acceptance opportunities with frontbook and backbook merchants, including complex API and integration deals
• Lead technical discovery and qualification with prospective customers and translate their requirements into solution designs and product mapping
• Run customer workshops, demos and architecture discussions, and validate use cases, integrations and implementation approaches
• Support RFP responses, security reviews and technical objection handling
• Coordinate with Commercial, Product, Engineering, Compliance and Implementation teams to move deals forward
• Create reusable solution assets, playbooks and standard patterns, and help stakeholders weigh trade-offs and choose the best path to value

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience in solution engineering, solutions consulting, sales engineering, implementation or a similar customer-facing technical role in financial services
• Native Japanese and business-level English
• Experience in payments, embedded finance, marketplaces, platforms or complex financial infrastructure is highly valued

Required skills

• Strong understanding of APIs, technical integrations and solution design in financial services, payments, SaaS or platform environments
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong communication, problem-solving and technical judgment
