Strategic Account Executive, Public Sector Japan (SLED)

About the role

Datadog is hiring an experienced SLED Sales Executive in Tokyo to sell its observability and security platform to large State, Local and Education (SLED) organizations in Japan. The team follows a defined methodology to uncover customer needs and communicate the value of the product, and the role covers new accounts in a rich territory as well as hybrid accounts moving toward the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect large State, Local and Education organizations while running an efficient sales process
• Maintain, build and own relationship maps for the territory, including existing relationships and aspirational contacts
• Develop a deep understanding of each customer's business
• Negotiate pricing and business terms by selling value and ROI
• Manage existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth in the territory
• Identify the key value drivers behind every opportunity and ensure accurate, consistent forecasting

Required profile

• 5+ years of closing experience, including field selling in an assigned SLED region
• 2-3+ years of SLED or government sales experience
• Has met or exceeded direct sales goals of 1M+ with an average deal size of $100k+
• Able to prospect and build a pipeline independently
• Experience selling to large SLED organizations and winning new logos
• Experience in an innovative tech company (SaaS, IT infrastructure or similar preferred)
• Regular travel to client sites within the area and other regions
