Strategic Buyer – Flying Procurement (Japan)

About the role

The Strategic Buyer for Flying Procurement in Japan will support Airbus’s Regional Procurement Office Asia Pacific. You will develop the regional supply chain, identify new industrial capabilities and help increase Airbus competitiveness and presence in the Asia‑Pacific market.

Key responsibilities

• Map and maintain a detailed view of aerospace supply chain activities and industrial capabilities across Japan.
• Identify and assess new suppliers, innovation projects and technical initiatives to support future competitiveness.
• Generate Country Sourcing Profiles covering supply‑base maturity, cost drivers, regulatory and political environment.
• Facilitate RFI/RFP opportunities, ensuring regional capabilities are considered by central teams.
• Conduct local supply risk assessments (political, logistical, quality, financial).
• Act as procurement representative for internal stakeholders and for the International Cooperation and Offset (IC&O) team.
• Organise commodity visits, supplier site visits and briefing materials for central procurement teams.
• Develop long‑term supply‑chain sustainability strategies aligned with central commodities.
• Manage relationships with key regional suppliers, coordinating strategic information flows and supplier evaluations.

Required profile

• Professional level of English; Japanese language skills highly desirable.
• Ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a global environment.
• Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
