Technical Sales Specialist - Electromagnetic Stirrers (Steel Industry)

About the role

ABB is looking for a Technical Sales Specialist for its Process Industries automation business area, based in Shinagawa, Tokyo (hybrid work available). The role covers sales and technical proposal activities for Electromagnetic Stirrer (EMS) systems used in continuous casting, working with domestic steel manufacturers and steel plant engineering companies.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and sell EMS solutions to steel manufacturers and related plant engineering companies
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers and open up new customers and business opportunities
• Collaborate with ABB's local and global teams on sales and business development
• Listen to customer challenges, define technical requirements and prepare technical and commercial proposals
• Conduct technical presentations and prepare quotations, proposals and technical specifications
• Support customers during the early stages of project development and technical evaluation

Required profile

• Experience in technical discussions, requirement definition and commercial negotiations with customers in a B2B manufacturing, industrial machinery, heavy industry or plant engineering setting
• Willingness to travel domestically regularly
• Valid first-class driver's licence
• Preferred: steel, metals or heavy industry sales experience, project sales experience and EPC business experience

Required skills

• Basic electrical knowledge, including reading general arrangement drawings, single-line diagrams and electrical schematics
• Japanese at JLPT N1 level or native, and intermediate to business-level English
• Preferred: knowledge of EMS systems, motors, drives and power conversion equipment
