Technician - Field Service (Electrification)

About the role

This Technician position belongs to ABB's Electrification business area, Service Division, and reports to the Field Service Manager. You will carry out service work at customer sites following procedures and work instructions, in line with ABB's quality and safety standards. The position is a contract employee.

Key responsibilities

• Work with customers on site to identify opportunities to improve operations and solve technical problems
• Perform field service work on site and remotely, identifying and analysing technical issues within your assigned service areas and product lines
• Create material lists for service activities and confirm that materials, parts and equipment are available and meet quality standards

Products handled

• Power distribution equipment: medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchgear, protection relays, ring main units, transformers, circuit breakers
• UPS systems and voltage sag compensation systems

Service scope

• Installation supervision, commissioning and adjustment, maintenance, troubleshooting
• Customers include large hyperscale data centre operators, major semiconductor manufacturers and renewable energy companies (solar, wind)

Required profile

• Valid Japanese driver's licence
• Willingness to travel frequently, including short- and long-term assignments
• No prior electrical experience required; training is provided
• Business-level Japanese; candidates with electrical experience may qualify with conversational Japanese
