Ads Marketing Manager – Japan

About the role

OpenAI is building the next generation of advertising for an AI‑powered world. As the Ads Marketing Manager for Japan you will lead the growth of our advertising business, focusing on small and medium‑sized advertisers and shaping local marketing programs.

Key responsibilities

• Own SMB revenue and growth goals in Japan, translating market opportunities into measurable marketing programs.
• Build acquisition, onboarding, activation and lifecycle programs that help SMBs launch, see value and expand their spend.
• Recruit, engage and grow SMB‑focused agencies and partners through education, co‑marketing and scalable initiatives.
• Partner with Sales and global marketing teams on large‑advertiser events, activations and market engagement.
• Adapt global campaigns for Japan, measure commercial impact and iterate based on data.

Required profile

• Experience in digital advertising, growth marketing or advertiser marketing with a track record of measurable business growth.
• Deep understanding of Japan’s advertising market, SMB needs and agency relationships.
• Proven ability to build programs from scratch, move from strategy to hands‑on execution and work cross‑functionally with Sales, Product and global teams.
• Strong analytical judgment linking customer insight, funnel performance and revenue outcomes.
• Fluent in Japanese and English with excellent communication skills.
