Environment, Health & Safety Manager

About the role

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, is looking for an Environment, Health & Safety Manager for its Global Operations function. The role is based in Gotemba, Japan (anchor role) and covers all aspects of health, safety and environmental support for the operation site.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations relating to health, safety and the environment
• Manage incident and accident investigations and support injury/illness case management, including return-to-work and transitional duty programs, and track lost time injury and recordable incident rates
• Develop, run and document safety and environmental training programs, keeping training hour records
• Organize and lead safety committees, ergonomic committees and accident investigation committees
• Gather and report safety, environmental performance, compliance, expense and incident data, and keep site managers informed of trends and progress against goals
• Review new operations, processes and procedures at design and implementation phases for safety and environmental hazards
• Support hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, ensuring shipments are properly manifested and labeled, and keep Safety Data Sheets up to date
• Manage capital projects that improve EHS at the site
• Supervise one full-time employee and one dispatched staff member

Required profile

• Over 3 years of experience in EHS-related work
• Business-level English proficiency
• Knowledge and experience in facility management is a plus
