FEP Customer Engineer I

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Use of digital analytics tools for equipment troubleshooting.
