Freelance Game Localizer – Simplified Chinese to Japanese

About the role

TransPerfect Gaming is seeking freelance translators to localize video game content from Simplified Chinese into Japanese. You will help bring indie and AAA titles to Japanese players by delivering high‑quality, culturally‑appropriate translations.

Key responsibilities

• Translate in‑game text, UI strings, dialogue and marketing copy from Simplified Chinese to Japanese.
• Proofread and edit translations to ensure consistency, correct terminology and flawless grammar.
• Maintain and update translation memories and glossaries using CAT tools.
• Collaborate with project managers and developers to meet tight release schedules.
• Provide feedback on linguistic issues and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Native‑level proficiency in Japanese.
• Strong command of English and Simplified Chinese.
• At least two years of experience in gaming localization (Chinese → Japanese).
• Passion for video games and familiarity with adventure, strategy and fantasy genres.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent grammar and spelling.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer‑assisted translation tools, preferably memoQ.
• Ability to work independently under deadline pressure.
