Guide Safety Officer – Furano

About the role

The Guide Safety Officer for Rhythm Rides in Furano provides on‑snow technical safety leadership for the guide operation. Working primarily in the field, you will assess snowpack, weather and terrain while supporting guides and ensuring safe guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse daily snowpack, weather, terrain and hazard information.
• Set and communicate clear, conservative operating parameters for each day.
• Deliver technical briefings and updates to guides as conditions change.
• Provide on‑snow coaching, support and development for Furano guides.
• Lead technical emergency readiness, incident response and escalation of risks.
• When appropriate, guide backcountry tours and receive the applicable guide rate.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of mountain safety, avalanche awareness and backcountry operations.
• Ability to make decisive, safety‑first decisions in dynamic environments.
• Excellent communication skills for briefings and guest interactions.
• Flexibility to work variable hours (30‑40 hrs/week) during the November‑March season.
