Mechanical Engineer – Service Tools Development

About the role

Join Bosch's MA Division of the AS Business Unit in Yokohama to lead the development of mechanical and electromechanical service tools for automotive, commercial and off‑road vehicles. You will work in an international, multi‑functional team, collaborating closely with Japanese OEMs, sales, and product specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product development projects from concept through prototype delivery, ensuring schedule, cost and performance targets.
• Design new tools and redesign existing ones using GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, CAD, physical testing and finite element analysis.
• Conduct validation and verification activities, including calculations, FEA, physical testing, design reviews and FMEAs.
• Support production by continuous product engineering, problem solving and warranty reduction.
• Document designs, BOMs, test reports and engineering data according to standard practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of experience in the automotive industry, including workshop service repair procedures.
• Direct customer‑facing experience and ability to partner with sales teams.
• Fluency in Japanese (spoken and written) and good command of English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3‑D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience with finite element analysis software, preferably SolidWorks Simulation.
• Use of standard measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and thread pitch gauges.
• Ability to produce engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, test reports, FMEA).
