People Partner - Japan & Korea Business

About the role

Maersk is looking for a People Partner to support its Japan and Korea commercial business. The role acts as a strategic HR partner to business leaders, driving the people agenda and organizational effectiveness. It suits someone who enjoys variety and wants to understand the business through a designated business platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build a strong partnership with leaders as their main point of contact and sparring partner on all people matters.
• Drive the annual People Cycle, including performance management, employee engagement, compensation, succession planning and talent development.
• Ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws and employment regulations by managing employee relations around exits and mitigating legal and business risks.
• Work with HR professionals and specialists in the People Advisory, Centers of Excellence and Global Mobility teams.
• Coach leaders on corporate and COE-driven people initiatives and programs.
• Participate in recruitment for the assigned business function where needed.
• Provide market insights on the talent landscape, hiring market and employment trends in Japan and South Korea to support talent acquisition, workforce planning and retention.

Required profile

• 10+ years of HRBP experience; exceptional candidates may be considered with less experience.
• Strong Employee Relations and labor law expertise (mandatory).
• Experience supporting both Japan and Korea organizations is a plus.
• Strong stakeholder management, coaching and change management capabilities.
• Able to work in a matrix organization and result driven with a can-do attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Japanese and English.
