Senior Manager, MedTech Surgery Japan

About the role

The Senior Manager, MedTech Surgery Japan leads a business-facing technology organization in the region, partnering with the regional MedTech leadership team to shape growth strategies, modernize platforms and deliver digital and AI capabilities for customers and patients. The role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technology execution, covering digital surgery and robotics platforms, OR integration, imaging and computer vision, field service digitization, supply continuity and instrument lifecycle analytics. It is based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, with up to about 20% domestic and international travel.

Key responsibilities

• Co-create the regional technology strategy for Surgery and turn it into a multi-year product and platform roadmap with clear value outcomes.
• Act as strategic technology partner to regional senior leaders, advising on how technology can unlock growth, efficiency and better customer and patient experience.
• Operationalize AI/ML and GenAI (including responsible AI) across commercial, supply chain, service and R&D use cases, grounded in data governance and security.
• Drive disciplined product management, linking roadmaps to OKRs and owning the regional technology portfolio's prioritization, funding, delivery, adoption and benefits realization.
• Lead and develop a team of product, engineering, data and delivery leaders, coach people managers and build an inclusive, high-engagement culture.
• Manage the regional technology budget and ensure quality, cybersecurity, privacy and compliance for MedTech software and services.
• Support product launches, tailor solutions to local market dynamics and help commercial teams build technology capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Business); master's preferred.
• 8+ years in technology leadership leading line-of-business, engineering, data operations or product teams; 6+ years of people leadership at scale in matrixed environments.
• Proven track record in product management, agile delivery and portfolio governance.
• Preferred: MedTech Surgery domain exposure and experience with clinical, commercial and supply chain stakeholders across multi-country regions.

Required skills

• Fluency with cloud, APIs, data platforms, analytics and AI/ML/GenAI, with hands-on implementation beyond pilots.
• Experience modernizing legacy environments while introducing digital and AI solutions safely and compliantly.
• Experience with business processes such as bids and tenders, order to cash and customer engagement, and their interfaces with ERP, CRM and MES platforms.
