Senior Solutions Architect (Lakebase)

About the role

Databricks is hiring a Senior Solutions Architect (Lakebase) in Tokyo. The Lakebase team works within Databricks' global go-to-market mandate, partnering with account teams to help clients adopt and grow their use of the Lakebase product line. The architect is paired with an Account Executive to plan strategies, create presentations and demos, and act as a trusted advisor and tier-3 escalation point for complex technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Work with GTM leadership and account teams to design and run engagement strategies across the territory.
• Build technical credibility with stakeholders and drive product adoption and vision.
• Run workshops and create customer-facing collateral to raise technical knowledge and thought leadership.
• Influence the product roadmap by turning field insights into recommendations for Product and Engineering teams.
• Act as the tier-3 escalation point for the field, handling the most complex technical challenges in mission-critical environments.

Required profile

• 10+ years of transactional database (OLTP) expertise across engineering, product development, administration and pre-sales, with a track record of client-facing solutions.
• Ability to influence OLTP products and shape roadmap priorities.
• Experience architecting solutions that integrate transactional data into Big Data, Lakehouse and AI ecosystems.
• 6+ years in a customer-facing, pre-sales or consulting role influencing technical executives.
• Experience co-planning large territories with Account Executives and working with Global System Integrators and third-party consultants.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Engineering.
• Fluent Japanese with professional working English.

Required skills

• Disaster recovery, high availability, backup and recovery, scale-out, identity and security management, and migrations (vendor-to-vendor, on-prem to cloud).
• SQL and Python for programming, debugging and problem-solving.
• Hands-on experience building solutions in AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Broad experience in data engineering, data warehousing, AI, ML, governance, transactional systems, app development and streaming.
