Specialist Solutions Architect (Security)

About the role

Databricks is hiring a Specialist Solutions Architect (Security) in Tokyo. As a customer-facing specialist reporting to the Specialist Field Engineering Manager, you guide customers in building big data solutions on Databricks, working alongside Solution Architects. You need hands-on production experience with cloud infrastructure and big data technologies, and fluent Japanese is required; business-level English is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to strategic customers, covering architectural and security design, development and deployment best practices including automation
• Architect production-level workloads, including end-to-end pipeline load performance testing and optimisation
• Provide technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security for the Databricks Intelligence Platform
• Support Solution Architects with advanced sales aspects such as custom proof of concepts, workload sizing and custom architectures
• Improve community adoption through tutorials, training, hackathons and conference presentations, and contribute to the Databricks community as a technical subject matter expert

Required profile

• Pre-sales or post-sales experience with external clients across various industries
• Experience as a Data Platform engineer designing, setting up and maintaining production-grade big data systems (Spark)
• Experience designing cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, Azure or GCP) with cloud security and networking best practices, including VPC/VNet design, routing, segmentation, private connectivity, data exfiltration prevention and identity and access management
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent work experience

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure automation (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation or similar)
• Experience supporting customers in building a security lakehouse/security data platform on Databricks to augment SIEM, enable security analytics and threat hunting, and build advanced detections
• CI/CD, unit and integration testing, and automation and orchestration
• Production programming in Python, Scala, SQL or R
• Nice to have: Databricks certification
