Sound Application Engineer - Japan

About the role

L-Acoustics, a global leader in premium professional sound systems for live and fixed installations, is looking for a Sound Application Engineer based in Japan. The role supports L-Acoustics' client network and end-users through sound system design support using the proprietary software Soundvision, and on-site support to system and mixing engineers during festivals, tours, special events and musicals. It is a remote position, but the candidate must already live in and be authorized to work in Japan.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the brand in fixed installation and touring in Japan
• Maintain and develop relationships with key Japan and Korea consultants and engineers
• Develop the market through technical expertise for consultants, integrators, venue owners and end users
• Provide training and administration for sound system theory, practice and safe operation
• Deliver sound system design, specification and documentation for install and touring applications
• Carry out sound system commissioning, measurement and verification, including on-site acoustical and mechanical checks
• Conduct training, product demonstrations and technical presentations
• Support products, applications, safe operation and software, and write technical mission reports

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience in the pro audio industry
• In-depth knowledge of the Japanese installation and touring pro audio market
• Ability to build professional relationships with consultants, contractors and engineers and give appropriate advice and support
• Good knowledge of sound design modeling and measurement procedures
• Resides in Japan or Korea and is authorized to work there
• Regional travel of 50-75% required
• A portfolio of previous work is required

Required skills

• Experience modeling (EASE) and measurement tools (SMAART) preferred
• Practical PA system design and operation for touring and/or corporate touring markets
• Good command of Japanese and proficiency in English
