Broker-Dealer Operations Specialist – Japan

About the role

Alpaca Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of the US‑based fintech group Alpaca, is looking for a Broker‑Dealer Operations Specialist to manage back‑office functions for Japanese equity trading. You will ensure accurate settlement, cash movements, reconciliation, corporate actions and customer account administration while collaborating with global teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end post‑trade processing, clearing, settlement, securities delivery and cash reconciliation for Japanese equities.
• Oversee customer account opening, ongoing administration and segregation of client assets.
• Prepare and review statutory books, customer statements and regulatory reports.
• Handle corporate actions such as dividends, stock splits and shareholder benefits, including tax and withholding operations.
• Coordinate with counterparties, custodians, clearing houses and other external stakeholders.
• Identify, escalate and resolve operational issues, exceptions and trade discrepancies.
• Develop and improve operational processes, procedures and internal control frameworks.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of hands‑on experience in Japanese equity back‑office operations at a securities firm.
• Strong understanding of the Japanese securities market and its clearing/settlement framework (e.g., JASDEC).
• Practical experience with statutory books, regulatory reporting and corporate actions.
• Business‑level proficiency in both Japanese and English for written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities accurately and work proactively with stakeholders.
