About the role
TransPerfect Gaming is seeking freelance translators to localize video games from Simplified Chinese into Japanese. The role involves converting game text, dialogues, UI strings, and related content to deliver a seamless experience for Japanese players.
Key responsibilities
- Translate game assets from Simplified Chinese to Japanese while preserving meaning, tone, and style.
- Proofread and edit translations to ensure linguistic accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain terminology databases and adhere to established glossaries.
- Collaborate with project managers and other linguists to meet project deadlines.
- Utilize computer‑assisted translation (CAT) tools to increase efficiency.
Required profile
- Native‑level proficiency in Japanese.
- Strong command of English and Simplified Chinese.
- At least two years of experience in gaming localization (Chinese → Japanese).
- Passion for video games and familiarity with adventure, strategy, and fantasy genres.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent grammar and spelling skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with CAT tools.
