Alliance Manager

About the role

Amgen is looking for an Alliance Manager to act as the main liaison and point of contact with its partners, managing relationships, maximising contract value and ensuring each partner's rights and obligations are fulfilled. The role works closely with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities and oversee strategic initiatives, and requires a mix of scientific, business and project management expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage alliances with key external partners in line with Amgen's strategic objectives, acting as the primary contact for day-to-day alliance activities
• Nurture long-term relationships with senior leaders and decision-makers on both sides, and align local, regional and global ownership of each partnership
• Oversee implementation of partnership agreements, including milestones, timelines and deliverables
• Work with internal teams (R&D, Medical, Commercial, Value Access, Legal, Finance) to resolve challenges and keep stakeholders informed
• Lead project teams to execute collaboration plans, including budget alignment and MAH transfers, and track progress against milestones
• Identify and mitigate risks, and develop governance structures so decisions are made efficiently and issues are escalated promptly
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for Amgen leadership on alliance status, and monitor performance against agreed objectives
• Support sales forecasts for partnerships managed by the Japan alliance team, and work with the Japan and global legal teams on contracts, licensing agreements and negotiations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher; Master of Pharmaceutical Science or MBA is a plus
• More than 10 years of experience in the Japanese pharmaceutical industry

• Knowledge of R&D, regulation and pricing of pharmaceutical products
• Business-level English and Japanese communication
