Applied AI Architect (Tokyo)

About the role

The Applied AI Architect partners with enterprise customers to translate business priorities into AI solutions using OpenAI’s models. Acting as the technical CTO for a portfolio of accounts, you will guide customers from discovery through deployment, adoption and measurable impact.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical advisor and long‑term relationship owner for a named portfolio of customers and prospects.
• Partner with Account Directors to define technical account plans, milestones, adoption priorities and expansion opportunities.
• Lead discovery workshops with executives and technical teams to identify, qualify and prioritize high‑impact use cases.
• Design end‑to‑end AI architectures covering models, data integration, security, privacy, governance and deployment.
• Conduct technical evaluations, demos, prototypes and proofs of value to build confidence in solutions.
• Coordinate specialists from deployment engineering, product, security and partner teams to ensure successful implementation.
• Track adoption, usage and production readiness, intervening early to mitigate risks.
• Provide customer insights to Product, Engineering and Research to shape future offerings.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in customer‑facing technical roles such as solutions architecture, technical account leadership or AI deployment.
• Proven ability to guide enterprise organizations from technical evaluation to production adoption and measurable business impact.
• Strong software and cloud architecture foundation, including APIs, distributed systems, data integration, identity, security and privacy.
• Deep understanding of modern AI systems, large language models, agentic applications, model evaluation and retrieval.
• Hands‑on proficiency with APIs, SDKs and programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Excellent communication skills to build credibility with senior technical and business leaders and translate ambiguity into clear technical narratives.
