Associate Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking an Associate Programme Management Officer to support the International Recovery Platform (IRP) Secretariat in Kobe, Japan. The role contributes to the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and promotes "build‑back‑better" recovery practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the IRP Secretariat in coordinating meetings and workshops with senior policy makers and practitioners.
• Support the monitoring, analysis and reporting on progress of the Sendai Framework and IRP strategic objectives.
• Facilitate the exchange of lessons, best practices and capacity‑building activities among partners.
• Prepare documentation, briefing notes and communication materials for IRP activities.
• Contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge products related to resilient recovery.

Required profile

• Background in disaster risk reduction, humanitarian recovery or related fields.
• Familiarity with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015‑2030.
• Experience working in international or multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong analytical and writing skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the International Recovery Platform and its governance structure.
• Understanding of "build‑back‑better" principles.
• Ability to coordinate multi‑partner initiatives and produce clear reports.
