Director, Medical Lead, Neurology

About the role

Alexion Japan is looking for a Director, Medical Lead, Neurology to develop and run the local medical strategy and tactical plan for the neurology therapeutic area, working closely with global medical affairs and other countries. The role leads the entire Neurology team, supervises the MSL team and acts as the country's medical representation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Neurology team, motivating continuous growth while ensuring compliance awareness
• Develop and implement the in-year local medical strategy, budget planning and monitoring, and provide medical review of research proposals and reports
• Supervise the MSL team and present at Japan Product Teams, and act as medical expert for cross-functional groups
• Guide scientific communication, internal and external medical training, medical information and content for external education
• Take part in global training programs and review field medical tools, training materials, congress abstracts and publications
• Build partnerships with centres of excellence and KOLs, and supervise the local KOL engagement strategy and medical advisory boards

Required profile

• Scientific degree or strong medical affairs experience (PhD or MD highly appreciated); pharmacy degree, master's or similar desired
• 3+ years in Medical Affairs; people management highly desired but not mandatory if leadership is shown
• Japanese and English fluency, matrix and cross-functional experience, and proven budget and resource management
• Travel up to 25%

• Understanding of health outcomes research and real-world data generation
• Knowledge of local and global markets and emerging digital tools
