HR Business Partner - Electrification & Motion

About the role

ABB is looking for a business-oriented, intellectually curious HR Business Partner (HRBP) to support business leaders, managers and employees in driving organizational performance and workforce effectiveness. The role sits under the Senior HR Business Partner, covers the Electrification and Motion business areas, and is based in Tokyo. It suits someone who can discuss business strategy, workforce trends and quantitative analysis, and turn workforce data into actionable business recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic partnership (35%): act as a trusted partner to leaders and managers, advise on talent, organization and leadership decisions, and translate business strategy into people plans.
• People analytics and workforce planning (25%): analyze headcount, attrition, engagement, internal mobility, diversity and inclusion, skills gaps and compensation trends, build dashboards and reports, and forecast future talent needs.
• Talent management and succession (20%): run talent reviews and succession planning, support performance management and talent calibration, and promote internal mobility.
• Organizational effectiveness and change (10%): evaluate structures and operating models, and support redesign and change initiatives.
• Employee relations and compliance (10%): advise on workplace issues, uphold a respectful culture, and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Organizational Psychology, Data Science, Analytics or a related discipline.
• JLPT N1 level in Japanese and business-level English.
• Minimum 7 years of HRBP, People Analytics, Workforce Planning, Organizational Development or related experience.
• Demonstrated experience influencing decisions through workforce analytics and partnering with business leaders in complex organizations.
• Strongly preferred: experience with engineering, industrial, technology or manufacturing workforces, multinational matrix organizations, executive dashboards, Workday and modern HR analytics tools.
