Manager, Communications

About the role

Mastercard is seeking an experienced communications leader to shape the company’s presence in Japan. The Manager, Communications will drive strategic communications that reinforce reputation, support business priorities and tell Mastercard’s story across payments, technology and commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the communications strategy for Japan, translating global priorities into market‑relevant plans for customers, partners, media and policymakers.
• Craft and deliver compelling narratives on payments, digital commerce, cybersecurity, AI and innovation for business and public audiences.
• Drive executive visibility through speeches, briefing materials, LinkedIn content and media preparation for senior leaders.
• Build and maintain strong media relationships across business, financial, technology and policy outlets.
• Oversee communications for product launches, partnerships, research announcements and sponsorship events.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations or public affairs, preferably in financial services, payments or technology.
• Deep knowledge of Japan’s media, business and policy landscape with the ability to navigate nuance and build trust.
• Excellent written and spoken Japanese and English, with strong storytelling and editing skills.
• Proven ability to advise senior stakeholders, manage reputational risk and deliver measurable impact.

• Familiarity with measurement and analytics tools.
• Ability to work with approved AI tools for content creation and insight.
