Research Assistant – Pre‑clinical Research

About the role

The Eumbody Group at Optieum is looking for a Research Assistant to support pre‑clinical molecular and cellular biology work on its next‑generation scFv discovery and CAR‑T platform. The position is based on‑site at Toon City, Ehime University Graduate School of Medicine and involves executing well‑defined laboratory protocols under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine molecular biology tasks such as DNA/RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR and plasmid preparation.
• Carry out bacterial transformations and mini‑prep workflows following established protocols.
• Maintain cell cultures, including Jurkat and antigen‑expressing mammalian cell lines.
• Prepare reagents, media and materials required for Eumbody experiments.
• Assist with viral transduction and downstream cell handling under guidance.
• Support flow cytometry sample preparation, data acquisition and basic cell‑sorting preparation.
• Document experimental procedures and results accurately and follow safety SOPs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a related field.
• Basic hands‑on experience with molecular biology or cell‑culture techniques, academic lab experience acceptable.
• Fluent in English; must already reside in Japan.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow protocols and work under supervision.
• Good communication skills and collaborative mindset.
