Embedded Devices Software Solution Sales Director (Japan)

About the role

Canonical is expanding its Embedded Devices Software Solution Sales team and is hiring a remote Sales Director based in Japan. The role focuses on the Ubuntu product portfolio, including Ubuntu Core for IoT, and is about prospecting sales and strategic account development. You will carry an annual bookings quota and sell open source, services and software solutions to senior decision-makers in embedded software and IoT.

Key responsibilities

• Build and execute a territory sales plan prioritizing security-focused brands and manufacturers
• Work with marketing to promote the brand and raise market awareness in key accounts
• Develop pipeline through outreach, prospecting, local marketing and industry events
• Closing contracts to meet and exceed quarterly and annual bookings targets
• Manage customer relationships throughout the sales cycle and work with Field Engineers to understand customer requirements
• Maintain accurate data and forecasts in Salesforce
• Build relationships with key influencers and decision-makers and coordinate with support, delivery and management teams

Required profile

• Exceptional academic record from high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject
• Field sales experience in embedded Linux, embedded software or enterprise software
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and winning large accounts
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
• Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events and up to 50% for customer meetings and industry events
