Financial Senior Analyst

About the role

Assurant Japan KK is looking for a Financial Senior Analyst in Tokyo to support its accounting process (booking, period closing, tax filing, audit support) and its FP&A tasks (quarterly reporting and analytics, KPI updates, data collection for presentations, business planning and data entry into the planning system).

Key responsibilities

• Accounting (70%): daily review of journal entries including cash disbursements prepared by temporary staff, Oracle processing and set-up tasks; closing work such as adjusting entries, Balance Sheet reconciliation reviews and quarterly reporting packages; billing of invoices to the client and insurer.
• Project-based accounting tasks such as accounting automation, Oracle implementation and process set-up for new programs.
• Finance (30%): assist with outlook, forecast and plan; quarterly variance analysis between actuals and forecast for QTD and YTD; compile KPI data; prepare presentation slides; enter forecast and plan data into the enterprise planning application.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance.
• College degree in a related field (Business, Accounting, Economics or Finance).
• Experience in a multinational fast-paced environment.
• Business-level spoken, written and reading English and Japanese.
• Ability to manage own tasks to meet deadlines without supervision and strong analytical ability.
• Communication and interpersonal skills, as the role interacts with other functions.

Required skills

• Understanding of US GAAP.
• Preferred: accounting-related certification (US CPA highly welcome) and working knowledge of Oracle.
