Manager III, Customer Engineer

About the role

The Manager III, Customer Engineer leads the customer engineering team in the Chitose district, building strong relationships with customers and ensuring successful installation, support, and financial performance of Applied Materials' systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district.
• Manage, coach, and direct customer engineers, including salary and career planning.
• Serve as the primary interface with product divisions for technical support, training, spares, and reliability.
• Oversee account planning with the District Sales Engineer and provide support plans for system sales.
• Responsible for financial forecasting, cost efficiency, and achieving district financial results.
• Plan and execute system installations, including pre‑facility and start‑up meetings.
• Manage RMA procedures and track customer engineer hours for accuracy.
• Execute escalation procedures and monitor mentorship and award programs.

Required profile

• Ability to work on complex issues requiring analysis of data and situational factors.
• Experience receiving objectives and recommending policy changes.
• Leadership skills to provide direction, administer policies, and manage subordinate performance.
• Strong problem‑solving judgment within defined procedures.
