Customer Engineer I – CMP iTeam

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques while working in a supportive, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical field.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and diagnose basic technical issues.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
