Customer Engineer I – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer I at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers in Yokkaichi, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain a passport if travel is required.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
