About the role
As an ETCH Customer Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers in Hiroshima, installing, maintaining, and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
- Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic methods under guidance.
- Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
Required profile
- Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
- 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
Required skills
- Digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
- Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
