Head of Material Support & Logistics

About the role

The Head of Material Support & Logistics leads Airbus Helicopters Japan's supply chain, spares and repairs order administration, and warehousing functions. Reporting to senior management, this role ensures high customer satisfaction for Japanese clients by overseeing end‑to‑end material delivery and logistics performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of ~20 staff across three sections: spares & repairs order administration, logistics/warehouse/MRO, and procurement.
• Define and monitor KPIs such as on‑time delivery, back‑orders, AOG service rate, and fill rate.
• Coordinate with central, regional and internal teams to improve delivery performance, stock levels and collection adequacy.
• Implement and rationalise transport carrier choices, customs, insurance and import processes for helicopters.
• Oversee third‑party warehousing and distribution partners, ensuring cost‑effective replenishment strategies.
• Act as the primary point of contact for Japanese customers on spare and repair parts delivery, including weekend and evening AOG support.
• Represent the team in regional performance reviews and customer‑facing events such as symposiums and focus groups.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in material support, logistics or supply chain within the aviation or aerospace sector.
• Strong track record of managing large, cross‑functional teams and delivering measurable performance improvements.
• Excellent understanding of Japanese customs, import regulations and local logistics networks.
• Ability to work closely with customers, sales, and internal stakeholders to meet service commitments.
