Risk & Contract Management Specialist

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY JAPAN, LTD. is looking for a Risk & Contract Management Specialist in Tokyo. The role supports internal stakeholders by identifying and assessing risks and by managing the company's contract portfolio, from tender preparation through to project closeout. It is a full-time position with a hybrid working style.

Key responsibilities

• Risk management: identify and assess risks, review and maintain risk registers, run risk review meetings, train colleagues on risk policies and governance, and support audits and internal reviews
• Tender preparation: review commercial and technical tender terms, analyse prime contract terms for risks, and cooperate with legal to draft and negotiate agreements during sales and project execution
• Contract execution and claims: set the contract baseline, ensure timely payments, claims, variation orders, warranties and guarantees, verify that both parties have fulfilled their obligations, and document lessons learned at closeout
• Contract management competence: train other functions, guide cross-department teams, take part in claim negotiations and support purchasing so customer terms flow down to vendors

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above; a law major is preferred
• At least 3 years of risk management or contract review experience
• Fluent written and spoken English, with good presentation skills
• Self-driven, able to work independently and under pressure, and able to collaborate with other functions
