Senior Field Engineering Manager - Japan

About the role

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is looking for a Senior Field Engineering Manager to lead its Field Engineering team in Japan, which includes Solutions Architects (pre-sales) and Customer Architects (post-sales). The team partners with strategic and global accounts across the full customer lifecycle, from initial technical engagement through adoption and expansion. The role reports to the VP of Field Engineering International and sits within the broader Sales Leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow the Field Engineering team, covering both pre-sales and post-sales roles.
• Provide onboarding support, training and self-directed education programs.
• Align pre-sales technical strategy with post-sales adoption and success for a seamless customer journey.
• Promote the value of Elastic Cloud within the community and with customers.
• Share key product insights across business functions and help Product and Engineering teams prioritize features that matter most to users.
• Shape and drive the partner engagement strategy to overachieve regional goals.

Required profile

• Proven track record leading and growing Field Engineering teams with both pre-sales and post-sales members.
• Ability to articulate and sell the benefits of modern platforms and technologies, preferably in Search, Security, APM and Logging.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems and architectures and data analytics.
• Comfortable presenting and selling to large and small audiences.
• People-first leadership with a genuine interest in continuous growth.
• Fluent English and Japanese; travel of 10-30% within the region.
