Customer Engineer II – ETCH iTeam

About the role

As a Customer Engineer II on the ETCH iTeam, you will act as the primary liaison with Applied Materials’ customers in Japan, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Tier I preventative maintenance, wet‑cleans and basic repairs on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Assist senior engineers with corrective maintenance and disassemble, clean and rebuild kits as part of kit‑management quality.
• Diagnose and resolve basic technical problems using documentation, test equipment and digital analytics.
• Maintain clear communication with customers, ensuring professional service and a tidy work area.
• Follow all safety procedures, IP guidelines and established best‑known methods.

Required profile

• Ability to follow documented procedures and seek assistance when needed.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with professional demeanor.
• Willingness to travel up to 75 % of the time and work on‑site at customer locations.
