Solutions Engineer - Japan

About the role

Skydio, a US drone company focused on autonomous flight, is hiring a Solutions Engineer for its Japan business. You will serve large clients with diverse use cases, bridging technical discovery and implementation and articulating customer needs through demonstrations of the drone product line. The role reports directly to the Country Manager for Japan and works closely with Product, Engineering and Sales. It is an office-based position at the Skydio headquarters in Tokyo, with travel of 50 to 75% required.

Key responsibilities

• Foster a deep understanding of customer needs, identify key success metrics and run tailored product demonstrations and field trials
• Handle system demonstrations end to end, from setup and operation to troubleshooting
• Lead system validation, customer implementation and successful deployment
• Help draft responses to RFIs, RFPs and other technical documentation
• Act as the voice of the customer, influencing product and engineering strategy
• Support go-to-market strategies and business activities as needed

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
• Japanese native speaker
• Ability to read and write English; communication required
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time
• Japanese drone certification (二等無人航空機操縦士) is a plus

Required skills

• Solid technical background in professional drone applications, radio systems, networks, software, security, prototyping and electronics
• Understanding of the small uncrewed aircraft regulatory landscape
• Experience serving major industries such as defense, electrical utilities, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
