Backcountry Supervisor – Seasonal (Niseko)

About the role

The Backcountry Supervisor supports daily operations, safety, and service delivery for Rhythm Rides' backcountry department in Niseko. Working closely with the Backcountry Programs Manager, the supervisor leads guide teams on‑snow, ensures guest safety, and steps in as manager when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily guide operations, including bookings, guide allocation, and group logistics.
• Lead the guide team during the Backcountry Manager’s absence, maintaining safety standards and operational parameters.
• Conduct field check‑ins, debriefs, and next‑day planning to ensure smooth operations.
• Supervise, coach, and develop guides, delivering national guide‑training priorities.
• Coordinate with Guest Services and Operations Logistics to align equipment, guest, and staffing requirements.
• Escalate significant staffing, guest, safety, or operational issues as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading outdoor or backcountry guide teams.
• Strong knowledge of backcountry safety protocols and snow conditions.
• Excellent communication and cross‑department collaboration skills.
• Ability to make quick decisions and manage staff in dynamic environments.
• Flexibility to work variable hours, including early mornings and evenings.

• Hourly wage ranging from ¥2,600 to ¥2,850 (approximately ¥511,890–¥557,197 per month).
• Seasonal estimate up to ¥2,785,985 based on actual hours worked.
• Travel allowance of ¥100,000 reimbursed for actual flight costs.
