Partner Director – Tokyo

About the role

We are hiring a Partner Director to operationalize, activate, and scale strategic partner relationships in Japan. The role focuses on driving enablement, coordinating joint solution development, and ensuring commercial activation across the partner lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Own the day‑to‑day relationship with one or more signed partners in Japan as the single point of contact for enablement, solutioning, and GTM execution.
• Drive and manage onboarding across workstreams, including sales training, technical enablement, security, provisioning, and support operations.
• Ensure partner readiness to deploy and resell OpenAI solutions through shared project plans, milestone tracking, and joint QBRs.
• Orchestrate co‑developed solutions by defining use cases, creating demo assets, and localising technical documentation.
• Monitor partner performance, flag risks early, and drive remediation or acceleration plans as needed.
• Coordinate across OpenAI teams—Sales, Solution Engineering, Enablement, Operations, Customer Success, and Marketing—to meet partner needs and maintain internal alignment.
• Establish operational rhythms such as roadmap briefings, asset distribution, and sales‑enablement refreshes.
• Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, including commercial terms, dedicated personnel commitments, and reporting cadences.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in alliances, partner success, or enterprise software sales.
• Strong understanding of partner GTM motions and how to build and activate them.
• Proven experience working with partners at the executive level.
• Experience with strategic advisory firms.
• Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments and bring structure to undefined processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing without authority.
• Strong program‑management skills with the ability to track multiple workstreams and hold cross‑functional stakeholders accountable.
• Familiarity with the Japanese enterprise ecosystem and ability to manage relationships across local and global partner teams.
