Ratings and Research Support Working Student - Corporate Finance Group

About the role

Moody's is looking for a working student for its Ratings and Research Support (RRS) position within the Corporate Finance Group in Tokyo. The role supports analysts in the Corporate Finance Group and Financial Institutions Group on rating-related analysis and research, and reports to a Team Manager. It is an internally facing, part-time position for current university or graduate students, typically in 6- to 12-month increments.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in analytical, research, data and process improvement projects
• Collect and analyse financial data and market information, and identify trends that support credit conclusions
• Prepare financial documents, charts and presentations
• Monitor media and market developments on special projects and portfolios
• Help produce external research publications such as research reports
• Use AI tools and agents to automate routine tasks and streamline workflows

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university or graduate programme (Bachelor's, Master's or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Political Economy, International Relations, Statistics or another quantitative field
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese
• Ability to read financial and quantitative data accurately and explain key points clearly
• Experience in relevant coursework, academic projects, research activities or internships is welcome

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Good accounting or statistics background preferred (e.g. CFA or equivalent)
• Interest in fixed income, credit analysis and financial markets is preferred
