Employee Relations Consultant – Tokyo

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Consultant to join Agoda’s Global Employee Relations Team in Tokyo. In this role you will act as the subject‑matter expert on compliance, guide managers through performance and misconduct issues, and lead investigations to protect our culture and minimise legal risk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on company policies, local labour law and compliance to managers and employees.
• Coach and counsel managers on handling poor performance, misconduct and disciplinary actions.
• Conduct impartial investigations into grievances and manage case timelines with thorough documentation.
• Oversee terminations, ensuring correct procedures and documentation to reduce labour claim risk.
• Analyse performance and misconduct data to recommend policy revisions, training and process improvements.
• Partner with a dedicated department as an HR Business Partner, sharing insights and trends.
• Drive automation and enhancements of internal processes such as performance management and off‑boarding.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law or a related field.
• 6‑8 years of experience in Employee Relations or HR Business Partnering, with strong knowledge of Japanese labour law.
• Proven ability to manage complex ER issues, workforce reduction projects and investigations.
• Excellent problem‑solving, judgment and decision‑making skills.
• High attention to detail, ownership, reliability and strong ethical standards.
• Fluency in written and spoken Japanese and English.
